to be frank with you guys my friend have a good bank statment and business in his own country he wanna apply for a tourist visa and i recomended for him to have a hotels .... flight reservation but i am still confused about the purpose of the visit actually its not about the purpose its about his chance to get a visa he never been in the US never apply for a visa , dont have any relatives in the US he wanna try his chances to get a visa only ?????

Hi All,

My friend got laid off on Dec 19th 2008. And he got another job, but the new employer is not providing him Group Health Insurance. They are asking to take him Individual Family plan and saying they will reimburse. But the problem is, he is in Albany, NY and he got to know that they are no individual plans in NY which is really odd.

He wants to use COBRA but it's really expensive 1200$ per month. But luckily we saw that there is a 65% discount for people who laid off between 1st Sept 2008 and Dec 31st 2008.
But want to know whether H1b employees are eligible for this discount or only American Citizens and Green Card holders?

I am sure this what might have happened since you talked about FP.

Did you and your attorney both receive the FP notices ? I think one of those copies was returned to USCIS as undeliverable. What they do is they wil check the system for any address change and then put the returend FP notices alogn with the envelope in a new envelope and mail it out again. We had this weird status for few people duingthe Jul 07 rush and that was what it was. Let us know if this is the case..

Yes, you have stylus input that you can use. Its just like windows form. If stylus is down while move(like mouse move) then you draw on the bitmap or graphic).

The stylus (mouse) events are probably different its been a while sense I developed for it. Draw the bitmap and then draw that to the form.

Almost a good percentage of IV members are ready to file their I-140/I-485. I was one of the fortunate ones who will be able to file I485, due to the date moving from 2001 to 2003 last month for Eb3. The moment I got this happy news that I can file I-485, I celebrated by contributing $20 to IV. And my request to all of you who are in good spirits as of today due to the dates being current for I140/485, please do the same. This will help IV to continue fighting for the removal of retrogression to the best extent. I am sure all of us agree with me, that there is a long way to go in the journey of this GC. One of my friend left US for India in March 2006 with pending H1b extension. Applied for Visa stamping for existing petition which was due to expire in July 2008. Could not get his visa stamped due to 221g. Now his H1b extension is pending as USCIS is asking too much in RFE like client certificate etc and his sponser is not willing to persue further due to complexities (His employer is one of the following companies mentioned in http://durbin.senate.gov/showRelease.cfm?releaseId=295338) and asked him to assume this relationship to be terminated. Though he recieved the email yesterday his 221g is cleared.

Infact his I140 is also approved last week. I was wondering what options he has if he wants to come back to US.

Hi,

I had applied for my H1 extension in June 2008 and waited for some time and then upgraded it to premium processing in July. I did not get any result on my H1 extension but in the meantime my GC was approved in August. My question is will i be able to get my H1 processing fee back, at least the premium processing fee. I heard if your H1 processing doesn't get any result in certain time you will be entitled to get your money back.

I highy doubt it that you will get any fees back from USCIS. If you ask about the status of your H1 they will just get back to you saying that your H1 application was rejected since the applicant is n longer in Non Immigrant status as your status chnaged to Immigrant as soon as your Green Card was approved. You can try but very few people have actually recieved fees back from USCIS. Good luck

It is crunch time! Since PD are current, many folks have only until June 30th to extend H1 visa for 3 yr. extension. So only 15 days left!

How much time has it taken for members to get 140 approved though PP? I value your feedback, or pls. point me to a poll/data elsewhere. Please also state when was the timeframe you applied/for it approved (day/month/year)

Guys,
I just wanted to share some good news. I had two approved LCs. One with PD EB3 ROW March 05 and the other with ROW EB3 March 06. I had already filed the I-140 for the March 06 but not for the March 05 one. That was because of the way the job requirement was worded in that LC. The attorney was not sure if it would be approved. Anyway since the earlier PD became current in June I decided to take a chance and file I-140 for that earlier PD LC with PP. And what do you know, it got approved today and that allowes me to file for AOS this month. It was a bit of a gamble with money but it worked!!! :cool:

In general, macro lenses around 100mm are good for most kinds of macro photography. They have too much working distance for use on a copy stand, and not quite enough for skittish and/or dangerous insects or small animals. For general purpose stuff, the angle of view is such that you get enough background isolation to be worthwhile (you can rotate around your subject just a bit to get a highlight out of the background, while a 50mm macro takes in more background and makes this difficult).

I got a used Tamron 90mm, and let's just say that the build quality does not inspire confidence - however, the image quality is excellent. From what little I've seen of the Sigma 105mm macro (and from the many images that the members here have posted), it appears to have a bit better build quality and fine image quality as well. The Nikon macro is not going to be much better, if at all, in image quality than these, and you will pay dearly for the brand name. The one macro lens to avoid, however, is a "Phoenix" macro that only goes to 1:2 (that means that you can't get enough magnification for most small insects and flowers to fill the frame) and is most likely more cheaply built than my Tamron. Almost every other macro lens goes to 1:1 these days, and you can get the nicer ones used from KEH for not much more, so there's no reason to buy not-so-ideal lenses that you'll outgrow in no time anyway.

I want to quit my job and go back to my home country.
How long after I quit my job do I get to stay here to wrap up and ship my stuff??
Does that jeopardize my status? I plan to be here for about 30 days after quitting my job. WOuld that be ok? or is it overstaying?

If I ever need to apply for a tourist visa in future will this jeopardize my chances of getting a visa then?

You have no grace period for staying after your H1-B status becomes invalid (which I believe would happen when you quit your job).

I (and my spouse as dependent) applied for I-485, AP, and EAD on July 17, 07 and am yet to get the receipt notice. My (and my spouse's) H-1 expires on 12/31/07 and I plan to travel out of the US between November 8 and December 24.

In case, the I-485 receipt notice does not come before we leave, would we be considered as having abandoned the PR application? Any idea how long it might take for the receipt notice to come for people in my shoes?

Hello All,

I e-filed my first EAD renewal yesterday(07.12.2008). Mine is the classical case where i submitted in the window of August 2007 window and the AP and EAD was approved in October 2007.

My wife is an F-1 student and I concurrently filed on her behalf in Aug 2007.

Now while renewing my wife's EAD in the efile process, I did the following steps

1. Started a new I-765 for wife
2. Filled all the details.
3. Added I-131 also

i went ahead and efiled her application (both EAD and AP). Mine is the emplyment based I-485. Assuming that since she is dependent on me, I marked her application as family based I-485.

Reviewing the pdf, I saw that her documents need to go to the National Benefits Center, while mine is the Texas Service Center.

Did I commit a mistake? If so, how can I correct it.

PD isn't current, but just check i-485 online status, showing "Document production or Oath Ceremony" (i.e., the last cycle).

There was indeed a soft LUD in June this year. After that nothing much else. Is there sth good coming along my way?

Appreciate if anyone here can share his/her thoughts/comments.

Don't rely on online status, take infopass and check it out. BTW, it is most likely a FP notice, not an approval.

I don't think there are any adverse effects of updating them with correct address, I applied for 485 in July moved end of august and updated my address with them, All my Receipts and EAD and biometric were returned to them and they resent them to new address with a thank yo note for updating address.

I'm outside US with AP (expiring in about a month). My GC has been approved this June.
My GC employer has run out of work. He is likely to get work later.
My options are:
a) Stay outside US and look for project. On getting confirmed work, enter US to join employer.
b) Enter US, look for project. On getting confirmed work, join employer.

Getting employed by GC sponsor employer with, either option could take few months.

While entering US, I will NOT have EVL(employment letter), only AP & I485 Approval Notice.
Which is safer option (a or b) for US entry ?
What questions can be asked at POE ? What should I say if asked about employer ?
Can GC be revoked at POE?

I need to take an apppointment for myself and my wife in May. Unfortunatly few days back I found a mistake in my wife's password and it will take 21 days to get it corrected. I doubt if she can get the passport on time to schedule an appointment for May 2nd week. However I am sure to get wife's new passport by May 2nd week. So I was thinking of taking an appointment using her old PP number and editing the info later.

Will I be able to edit the PP number later online...?? Or not. greatly apprecite if you could provide some info on this...
