But this is how the true Apple believer thinks. If Apple doesn't make it, you don't need it. If anyone else makes it, it's junk. All that matters is that Apple makes huge sums of money so we can brag about it here. We want to pay a high price so Apple can continue to produce products that we want to buy and we don't want any competition. All we care about it what Steve says.

Paying less is not good. If you are a true Apple believer, you want to pay as much as possible so you can high five when Apple has record profits. It's not about the consumer, it's what's best for Apple.
Wow some people here are incredibly close minded. Nothing comes good out of being dedicated to one brand, nothing. You don't get any perks from the company, you lose out on possible better competitor products, you lose money, you lose out on knowledge of other products, etc.
Furthermore you are dedicated to a brand that is currently one of the most unethical companies out there, the only other company that compares is Sony. Don't get me wrong, I love the iPod line and I love the iTunes software (even if its bloated, management is 2nd to none for music), but the company does some shady things to save a few bucks, and go to great lengths to give the brand a positive name in the media (which includes banning certain individuals from their events if their reviews aren't what apple likes..iLounge 3rd generation shuffle for instance).
BTW, Apple's primary profits come from hardware not the music store.
I hate how slow Apple's servers on iTunes have been for the last couple years, definitely gonna have a look into amazon's store.

Why have a Canon and a Nikon? Does that not mean you have to buy lenses for both?

I have lenses for both, But I do have numerous adaptors that let me use my entire lens collection on all my cameras.
So I do save money in that sense.
Why do people have two or more computers, An xbox AND a ps3 etc etc etc.....
both cameras have their pros and cons, And I utilize both for their pros!
As I do with my film slr's.
Plus... I also collect cameras, Hense why i have more than one film cam.

If the feature set were right I would definitely think about buying one. I'm in the market for a new TV (current TV is 20 years old.) I'd probably wait for the second generation though since everyone knows not to buy a first generation Apple product.

They're not the same thing.
There are several kinds of TFT displays. TN displays are the cheapest and lowest quality kind of TFT displays; IPS displays are a more expensive and better kind of TFT display. The new iMacs have the better IPS kind of TFT displays.
And it is amazing how people get excited and angry for no good reason at all, just because they don't understand something and come to all the wrong conclusions.

Don't discount microsoft - they have money to lose for years in trying to get #1 for MP3 - slowly they creep up and overturn Apple - apple doesn't ahve the same stamina.
A long term commitment, not a short term thing.

Of course I read the damn thing. Is it not clear from the report that the invention really is the proximity detector. Synaptics or whatever they are called already have advanced touch devices on the market, thats nothing new. Maybe the software side of things, ie. how to interpert the inputs is novel but really its the ability to "remote control" your ipod without anything but your bare hands.
By the way, just watched Superman Returns there, not too shabby!

They even perform the same function, to start playback of media content. Are you really going to nitpick about the colors? That's not different enough, Apple should definetely sue.

Iv'e had both good and bad luck with Hitachi, Seagate and WD. Currently installing the Seagate Momentus XT 500GB drive :D So far it's silent! All my Hitachi's have been clicking. Although last year I purchased a Seagate drive and it clicked very badly so..

It's actually kind of weird, I'm a terrible judge of character in real life, but I'm pretty good at telling when people are hiding something online. Maybe if mscriv were here he could tell me why. For a fee.
